The Registrar-General's Department is, in addition to the responsibilities devolving on the Registrar-General in his capacity of Conservator of Mortgages in virtue of the Civil Code and the Code de Commerce, responsible for the administration of the :

  1.  Registration Duty Act.

  2.  

  3.  Land (Duties and Taxes) Act.

  4.  

  5. Road Traffic Act, in so far as it relates to registration duty on the acquisition of motor vehicle.
  6.  

  7. Stamp Duty Act.
  8.  

  9. Succession and Donation Duties Act now repealed but still applicable to successions prior to October 1987.
  10.  

  11. The Transcription and Mortgage Act.

 

The principal objective of the Department is to register particulars of events accurately and without prejudice to make it available for inspection and delivery and to collect duties accordingly.
