The Government Web Portal
The Government Web Portal is the main gateway for the delivery of integrated services to citizens, non-citizens, businesses and the Government. It is the main point of entry for users to access Government information and services online and round-the-clock, including the interactive applications.The Government Web Portal brings together the Government services and presents them in a way that is coherent, user-friendly and practical for the users.
The Citizen Sub-Portal (http://citizen.gov.mu/) is a gateway dedicated to providing information and delivering a wide range of public services to the citizens in an integrated and timely manner. The interactive online services provided under the eServices section on the Citizen Sub-Portal include:
  • application for Scholarships;
  • application for Learner's Licences;
  • application for Work Permits;
  • application for vacancies published by the Public Service Commission (PSC); and
  • application for Lump Sums;
In addition, the Citizen Sub-Portal includes the following features:
  • a section in which citizens can lodge complaints and provide suggestions;
  • a section dedicated to e-services;
  • information classified by subject area (e.g. education, healthcare, environment etc.);
  • information classified by audience group (e.g. children, youth, family, old age...)
  • job vacancies in the Civil Service; and
  • weather forecasts, useful links, news and events and FAQs.
Benefits to the Citizens
The GOC and the Government Web Portal offer Mauritian citizens with significant benefits by:
  • providing round-the-clock online Government information and services through a single window;
  • allowing for greater flexibility and convenience while dealing with Government departments and agencies, through an online access of services;
  • reducing the processing time in the provision of most Government services;
  • providing an easy mechanism to track the status of pending requests;
  • keeping citizens abreast of the latest developments in the public sector;
  • encouraging citizens to play a proactive role in the decision-making process of the Government of Mauritius;
  • providing a secure environment for conducting online transactions;
  • enabling citizens to enjoy the benefits of enhanced public services through the online interactive applications, namely, application for scholarships, application for Learner's Licences, application for Work Permits, application for vacancies published by the Public Service Commission (PSC) and application for Lump Sums. The above interactive applications provide facilities for the online submission of application forms, the tracking of the status of applications, the validation of online application forms and online help facilities.
