The benefits of GOC and the Government Web Portal to the Government are as follows:
By removing the technical complexities of managing IT infrastructure from the Government departments and agencies, the GOC enables public sector organisations to focus on their core competencies and thus enhance their efficiency and quality of service;
The centralisation of the public sector's IT infrastructure at the GOC reduces the investment costs for the Government, thus leading to cost optimisation and a better use of public funds;
Procedural delays are considerably reduced, resulting in enhanced services. This in turn helps to improve the productivity level of the employees of the public sector;
The Government Web Portal encourages the creation of well-defined systems and procedures within the public sector thus resulting in increased transparency and good governance;
Through the online delivery of Government services, the Government Web Portal helps to eliminate administrative bottlenecks within the public sector, thus creating a conducive, transparent and business-friendly environment;
The GOC hosts common and back-office applications used by Ministries and Departments e.g. Stores, Registry, Central Population Database and Personnel Database. Such use of common and back-office applications in the public sector helps to optimise the use of resources and hence reduce operation costs; and
